what's the point?

this thing didn't work for me at all when i got it last time it was up.

Need to get one of these, gut it, and integrate with the wootoff lights (and maybe wootalyzer) so that the lights go off during wootoffs!

Well, ain't that cheeky. And by cheeky, I mean most horrible piece of junk I've ever seen someone try to charge money for. :-)

Why would I want this?

I wonder if I can use one of these for every one of my email accounts. I'd love to have 3 of these going off all day behind my desk. It'd be like a disco party.

I'm impressed by the uselessness of this product.

No Windows 7 - deal killer for me.

I got this last wootoff. It is sitting next to my monitor. I work from home. I use it to alert me when I get work e-mail on my work e-mail account.

I love it. I can be sitting on the couch watching TV and see the e-mail change colors and get right to the e-mail.

This is what woot is for products you did not even know you needed till you saw them.

Could be cool if this was the 90's and email was still new and shiny.

I guess if you want something more the only option is to get a life size Paul McCartney doll that plays please Mr. postman when you get mail.

I wonder if they have a Candi version of this? In for 3.

Just what Everyone needs...a ten dollar Spam Alert! The Things some people think of! Put that one right next to the little USB Mirror...maybe they can keep each other occupied when you are away from the computer.

I just bought this to resolve why it doesn't work on Windows 7 -- just like I did for the Hello Kitty IZMO toy (part 1 and 2). :D

That looks exactly like my Google Mail Notifier that is installed as a Chrome extension. Except it's a lot bigger and my extension was free.

... and yet some people find this so fantastic as to buy three of them ...

Of course we all know it needs a speaker so it could play the triumphant "you've got mail" sound from AOL.

Would be more appropriate if instead of a light-up envelope is was a can of spam that lit up everytime something arrived in my inbox. Perhaps with an annoying AOL voice:

"You've got SPAM"

Who would need this?

Are people not already notified enough when they have new mail? Would you need this to put on top of your cubical so you can tell from across the office when you have mail?

So does that mean you basically don't do any work when you are "working" from home until your email notifier lights up?

The woot site is so sluggish today, the Box of Cobwebs is going to really kill it!

I own this. It doesn't blink rapidly. It just pulses. It works, but yeah, it's kinda superfluous... This is actually a really great Christmas gift for someone you don't know or is even an enemy of yours.
