Theyve sold them on here on and off for awhile now I bought mine almost 5 yrs ago off of woot. I think you will be very impressed and welcome to the world of Dyson. It may be your first but it most likely wont be your last

So the bf got this one about 3 months back... It is my first Dyson... His parents have the animal and love it. It arrived looking like a crated engine, shiney and daunting.... Worked up the nerve to unpack it and we LOVE it. It was a refurb but you wouldn't know it... no issues. Clean canister (not scratched)

Works wonderfully on our hard wood floors. It did initially pull up alot of wool from our area rug, but it seems to have stopped. The rug was brand new, so I'm not sure if the dyson was too rough on it, or it really had that many loose fibers.

I agree that the fact that the handle doesnt lock in place, is very odd. Love how light weight it is with 3 floors to cover. I do however hate the crevice tool and extension hose. Huge hassle to pull out and its very short. Also the power cord is extremely short as previously mentioned.

Overall it is a good vacuum for small areas or those that may not be able to lift a heavier version. It does well on multi surfaces and handles the O.E.S./Golden's fur and the sugar glider food fights quite well!

Love my Dyson....have had it a few years and yes, it was a refurb from Woot! I really wanted the ball one but can't see buying it if mine does the job. My advice, if you're on the fence, buy one! You won't regret it.

I first bought a DC07. I traded it with one of my friends for a car (as much as I loved the DC07, I still came out ahead). I bought another DC07. When my sister needed a vacuum, I gave her my DC07 and bought a DC14, which I am still using today. I use it a few times everyday to clean up the messes the kids and wife leave all over the place. I use it as an upright and the three hand tools pretty regularly. I rely on it.

Dyson rated the suction power of the DC07 at 270 air-watts. Don't know what an air-watt is, but since Dyson rates all their vacuums in air-watts, I figure we can use it. The DC14 was rated at 250. Their most powerful vacuum now (the DC39) is rated at 275 air-watts. Their current uprights are around 200-235 air watts.

The vacuum featured here is listed at 115 air-watts. I would guess pretty weak suction. Its strong points are the it's light and small. If you're tight on space and don't have need for the most powerful suctions, this might do the trick for you. I'd say if you have a full-size house and kids, a bigger unit would probably make you happier.

air-watts : nonstop service to a certain portion of the greater LA area.

I have bought 2 less than a year old. They are crap. I'll sell each for $100. They are the worst. Attachments are ackward and can't manuever, suckion gets a noise on commercial carpets, which pobably accounts for the ones sent back to be refurbished.

I have bought refurb Scooba, Roomba, and the smaller Dyson Ball vac from Woot.

I swear every one of them were brand new when I got them. no scratches, dings, dirt, etc was in or on any of them.

My thinking is some of them are actually refurbished, but many of them are sold new but for less money. They can't just discount the new ones or every buyer would want the great price all the time so they label them as refurbished to make the rest of the people that paid full price feel good about it.

My thoughts on the Dyson? It definitely has a ton of power/suction. No issues other than a bit finicky brush power button. I think it is the best designed / engineered vac. that I have ever used.

Got this last time and regret it. Too small. Canister needs to be dump almost every other use. Cord very short. Prob good for houses or apartment under 1000sq ft.

If anything get the larger one. DC 27 or above. I have the DC 27 and love it. Been working well for over 7 years. Refurbished too!

I don't get it.. I've actually been watching for Dysons and haven't seen one in a while. Doesn't seem like overkill at all-I thought things like this would come up a lot more often since they have to find a ton more crap to sell on all of the different sites and side deals, but that hasn't happened yet. Kudos to the minion herders for finding new inventory to fill up all of the millions of categories that exist now with the same number or fewer repeats.

I bought one of these from woot one of the times they previously ran them. We bought it to keep downstairs and moved our old Dyson DC14 upstairs. The DC14 is still awesome even after years of pure abuse (we have treated it like a shop vac). The DC24 did not disappoint us and we were pleasantly surprised at the weight and maneuverability. I don't think it has quite as much power as the DC14 but is not insufficient for general cleaning especially since it feels as if it is half the weight. My eight year loves to use it just because it has a ball and he can operate it without much difficulty, so that is a bonus in itself. You gotta love it when your kid says, "Daddy, can I vacuum?". If I needed another one I would not hesitate to purchase a second one of these Dyson vacs.

I wonder if something should break on here if it's easy to find replacements parts? If it was refurbished once, then something must have broke on it that it needed to be refurbished!

Bought one last April and tossed the other two vacuums I owned because it really is that much better than an El Cheapo. I have a small place and need lots of maneuverability, and this thing fits the role perfectly. Head might be a little small for great expanses of carpet but for me - rugs and wood floor - this one is perfect. Woot should sell them more often.

Hi there, with the Dysons, you carry it by the bin handle and not the top handle. The bin automatically locks in place to prevent accidental opening of the debris bin.

darkinc wrote:Only thing I do not like about this version is the handle does not actually lock in to place when you push it down for storage. That means if you are looking to move the Dyson in to another room you simply cannot lift up on the handle and carry it as the handle will fully extend till it locks in to place and at that time you have a full size vacuum to carry.

Well with a 5 year replacement part warranty listed in the Product Features, I don't imagine you'll be needing to replace too many parts. That being said dyson probably has a whole slew of them on hand from over the years and can easily fix your refurb.

eno45 wrote:I have owned four different Dyson models.
-DC14 Full Size
-DC17 Full Size
-DC25 Mid Size
-DC24 Small Size

Originally owned the DC14 for a few weeks but then a great deal became available on the then new DC24 & 25 models. So even though I liked the DC14 ability to really clean well I returned it and bought both the 24&25. I do like the ball feature, very natural to steer and I liked the easily detachable brush bar. Besides those features the standard models really out perform even the larger DC25 ball(bigger brother to the DC24). 1yr Later I ended up trading my DC25 for a brand new DC17 (family trade)and am much happier with the DC17 with my long haired German Shepherd.
Summary I dislike the shorter power cords on both DC24 & 25, less suction, smaller canister. SImply does not clean as well as the bigger and higher amp models.
DC24 would be perfect for a small condo or even big RV. I still own the DC24 and DC17 but when I want to do more than a quick vacuum upstairs I grab the bigger heavier DC17. I actually should put the DC24 on Craigslist since I really don't need it with the DC17 around. Well maybe our 3yr old can soon use it to clean her own room. It is small, lightweight and very easy to use. The lack of performance , short cord, short extension hose doesn't do well with the 2200sq ft home. For someone without shedding pets in a smaller home or just not able to handle a larger vacuum then this would be a good choice. Besides that go for the larger models.

Now I read this and I hesitate. I have been salvating over a Dyson for months. I have a short haired dog & I only vacuum once a quarter so I need something with suction. I have an Eureka Pet something or other and it serves me well, but I have always wanted a Dyson. I have an 1,100 sq. ft apartment that is primarily hardwood. However, if it's not upgrading from what I have is there a point? I really don't need 2 vacuum cleaners for an apartment.

If I did not already buy a Dyson from woot I would buy this one.

I have a dyson and a shark and they actually both work really well and neither loose suction unless the container is full.

Bought this model in April. Loved it. Until it went bad on me. No suction whatsoever anymore. Fittingly a day or two after the 90 days was up. Have had some stuff going on that has kept me from calling Dyson, but I'm hoping they can help me get it back in working order at a minimal cost.

(of course this is my first refurb purchase in a couple of years that I didn't buy a warranty for...)

You sure you didn't get the DC25? I bought it on woot a few weeks ago for about $250. It's the larger version of this one.

By the way, Dyson gave me the full warranty for my refurb (5 years) even though it was definately a refurb (the clear dust bin was scratched/cloudy).

Kinda peeved that the white model sold out so quickly! It looks pretty sharp!

Why does Woot do this to me!?
I have been scanning Woot everyday waiting for a Dyson vacuum to appear for TWO MONTHS. After holding out this long without vacuuming my floor once, it grew unbearable. Just two days ago, I bought a Dyson DC33 from Newegg. Now this! Woot finally has a Dyson but I already used up my vacuum budget. :-(
