Don't get it if you have area rugs and dogs. The vacuum sucks so hard it tries sucking the rug up. I called Dyson, they said to turn off the beater brush. I have dogs so it HAS to be on to get the hair out of the carpet. Woot wouldn't allow me to return it since it's not defective. I'm stuck with it. :o/

I got one of these from woot a few months ago and I love it.

I have a rabbit who I'm mildly allergic to, and my Dyson has really helped cut down on my allergies. It works really well on pet hair, even really fine pet hair. Also, it's the only vacuum I've found that can handle timothy hay.

Well worth the price.

I bought one. I have wood floors. It doesn't work very well for me. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I'm using it to pick up dog hair (yellow lab) and it doesn't pick the hair up good at all.

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1442&product=DC33-MULTIFLOOR

I have an older Dyson and I just put the canister in a trash bag, push the button, the debris falls into the trash bag, without a cloud of dust. Also you can empty the canister outside, in the garage, in the basement.

For those individuals that are concerned as I was about refurbished products from Dyson do realize that Dyson includes a letter with product describing stating what they fixed in the unit.

woot.com = 11 woots

It says a max reach of 51 ft. Does this mean the wand extends and stretches 16 feet (with the 35' cord)?

How is the wand/handle for you tall owners out there? I'm 6'4" and I hate having to hunch over to use a vacuum.

Check to see if there is a rubber trim around the bottom edge. Some vacuums have a removable seal there that allows more air flow and saves a bit of wear on your rugs.

I have to say I have a Dyson Animal (DC28 I think?) that I bought specifically because I have long-hair dogs. I've never owned or used a vacuum that was so good at picking up fur, much less everything else burrowed into my carpet. I bought it through Woot, and while it was a refurb, I got a 5 year warranty when I registered, and a piece of paper from the Dyson refurb center that said what was fixed (on mine, it was a replacement collection canister). I really couldn't be happier.

Of course, I had the same "problem" with the stiff hose...but stretching it a few times fixed that.

Is the Picture implying that this vacuum comes with a weight loss stair stepping plan?

okay so the biggest complaint is the wand? Is it enough to deter you all that have this vacuum from buying it again if you had to? Still contemplating pulling the trigger here.

Have this same model and would not recommend it even at this price. It is heavy and unless you spend 20-30 minutes cleaning the filters after each use the suction power is poor.

That's interesting. What "filters"? There's only one on this vacuum, which is the "Post HEPA filter" under the cannister. You clean that every six months or so.

Woot! Now 100+ woots for me!
That's 87 woots (Including Twelve Bats On Crack!), 12 Sellout.woots, 8 wine.woots and 4 kids.woots, and finally, 2 shirt.woots!

Thanks all for the helpful reviews. In for my first non-wine.woot

Must express some dissapointment in the added tax though, all of woot's products just got 10% more expensive.

chefjoe wrote:True that, wooted the same model in January too and the wand is the biggest disappointment due to how you basically have to extend the hose with a 3 ft plastic boom at the open end and the hose is spring-loaded tightly enough that it can topple the vacuum even though it's attached only a little ways up. Really wish there was a "mod" to remove that plastic boom.

EDIT: Ok, there is a mod. It's unclipping the hose from all the plastic handle/wand stuff and putting the parts inside the end of the hose. The tools don't snap in (like they are designed to do at the end of the long-reach wand) but they'll probably hold in pretty well with the vacuum sucking away.

As a bonus, when I registered my vacuum online dyson's confirmation said I had a full 5 year warranty (should I need it).

dang, wish i had the 5 year warranty deal! mine quit sucking (or started sucking) right after my warranty expired. the hose portion no longer works. the rest of it sucks well enough.

EDIT: i wouldn't buy another one, there's gotta be something better out there, especially at this price!

hi,
is it ok to buy refurbished without 5 year warranty? Amazon is selling the same one today for 299 but its not a refurbished one. Is it worth 100 bucks more?
Thanks

I bought this last time they sold them on woot and i'm not blown away. I like it but I was expecting some great suckage and it's like every other vacuum i've had. I like that it's nice and light to push around but the front is crazy high...like wont vacuum under cabinets that are 7ins off the ground in my bathroom. For the price not bad but I can't even imagine paying regular price for it!

The cord on the vacuum is on its last limb (or shall I say hanging by threads) and we just put an addition on our home and now have double the space we did before with both carpeting and hardwood flooring. I think I will pull the trigger here huh? Not gonna find a better price, and if this reforx is anywhere comparable to what my shark navigator has done for me, I would be satisfied.

(trying to sell myself that I need this and spend the 200 bucks on it, lol)

Spend less and get a new Shark.

I'm not a Dyson hater, but I have owned both Dyson and Shark vacs, and I have to say I think the Shark is superior, and undeniably cheaper.

I never had any serious issues with my Dyson, but I really do wonder why there are so many refurbs out there.

I bought a refurb a few months ago, same model, and I love it. It's incredibly easy to empty, powerful, and I don't have to worry about picking things up off the floor first. I just let it run over everything and it picks all of it up. If you've got the cash to spend, and you need a new vacuum (or you hate vacuuming), then get this.

I can tell you personally, this thing can indeed vacuum bees. I sucked up DOZENS of dead (and some live) bees that infested my old apartment.

Side effect: the bees (yellow jackets) left a sticky gross slime on the inside of the hose leading to the cyclone chamber. Difficult to clean. But after a few years of use, that wore off.

I wouldn't recommend vacuuming up bees, but it can be done. Take my word for it.

I love mine. Got the DC14 Animal when we first bought our house in 2004. It's still running today, and still sucks (just like it should). Have to clean out the beater brush about once a month. But for all the good cleaning job it does, at little care and maintenance is worth it.

Like I said earlier, the wand can be detached. However, if you are looking for other complaints, this vacuum is not self-propelling (at least mine isn't), so you actually have to push it. It works well coming back to you (so you don't have to "pull" it much), but the first time I used it, my lower back was hurting a bit.

I've now learned how to "push" it without straining anything, so I like it now

The sale and purchase of men has been outlawed in this country for some time. However it's relatively easy to find one willing to sell his soul, and for competitive prices, too.

As for claims of false advertising, if your position had merit there would be some serious issues with ordering from the Victoria's Secret catalog.

Based on the reports of your now fellow Dyson owners, there appears to be a 95% chance you will be satisfied if not delighted with your purchase.

I own two, DC25 Animal and the DC Ball Animal. Both to a tremendous job vs my old hoover. I find that the regular DC25 animal is better then the ball and wider for pick up. The ball is great for smaller areas.
